Uppin’ the Ante

Here’s a quick excerpt
When you play any poker game, everyone knows you want to whittle down the field to heads up. Not only do you then only have to worry about only one other player and what there cards are, but your check call strategy can easily figure out how much you will need to put into the pot to see the river. This is easier in NL, because you can bet whatever you want. Having a 6-way hand to see the flop in NL is ridiculous, but not uncommon in limit hold ‘em.
What’s important, then, is the pre-flop betting. We’ve already dicussed that you can only bet or raise a specified amount in limit. Pretty easy. But my general rule is if you can’t raise, you shouldn’t be playing that hand. This is about aggressive play, and maybe even some lose aggressive if you have a good read on the table and [...]

Head Games

(Ed. Note: For the sake of discussions now and in future blogs, I will be talking in terms of small limit, mainly $3-6, because that is a VERY typical game one would find going at any casino. If you regularly play $5-10 or $30-60 or whatever limit, that’s fantastic. Just substitute in your own numbers. If you can afford that, you can play that. But the tactics I will talk about from here on out are all transferable.)
Page 1, chapter 1, book 1. To play any poker game, you head needs to be in the right place. You need to be calm, you need to be aware of the other players, you need to think of the possibilities as each card comes off the deck. This is the trouble with No Limit players (NLP) in low-limit games.
NLP’s walk in with the NL attitude. They may be waiting for a seat to open [...]

Limit Hold ‘Em - The Average Man’s Game

Here’s a quick excerpt
I’ve been playing limit poker now for almost 20 years, mainly $3-6 to $10-20 but as high as $30-60 when I used to play at the Commerce. I was also a professional poker dealer in California, but now, soon to be married, I have dropped back to playing 1 to 3 times per week from the consistent 6-7 days that I used to. I grew up in Northern California and have played them all up here, plus Southern California, Vegas, AC, Washington, Montana, and Mississippi. I’ve played hold ‘em, stud, pineapple, pitch-and-roll, whatever there is available that day.
I write this blog for one main reason. Since the explosion of no limit hold ‘em, everyone and their dog thinks they can just sit down, play cards, and win. But the only thing they see on TV or the online tournaments they play in is no limit and people pushing huge amounts [...]

The Ten Commandments of Low Limit Hold’em

This article might be a tad bit controversial to those with no sense of humor. If the subject matter sounds offensive, then stop reading now!
In the year 47 AD (after draw), these Commandments were brought down from Mt. Borgata, and shall be considered law in any card room East of Las Vegas. The California card rooms have their own unique Commandments that no one pays any attention to.
1: The King of Spades is the Lord and God of the deck. Thou shalt have no other Kings before him. Thou shalt worship him openly with a joyous heart, but should fold him in early position if his partner is anything other than a King, Queen, or Ace.
2: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain after slow-playing AA against the blinds and losing when T5 makes 2 pair. The Lord helps those who raise.
3: Remember thou [...]

The guy who invented poker was bright, but the guy who invented the chip was a genius
This is the first post from the blog: How To Play Poker.
Today I’ll be explaining where poker started and teach you the basics of How To Play Poker. When you’ve finished and read all my posts you’ll be able to play poker and make money online or at the local casino!
My favourite and poker game I play the most is Texas Hold ‘em. Basically at the beginning of every game you are delt 2 cards face down by the dealer. The deal button is passed around to the person to the left at the end of each ‘Hand’.   A hand is basically that turn of game play (a round).
At the beginning of every Hand the Small Blind and Big Blind have to put a given amount of money every turn (The BLIND).The Big Blind has to [...]

Kontrollierte Bankrolloffensive sieht dann übrigens so [...]
